Toyota Corolla: Steps to take in an emergency / Fuel pump shut off system
To minimize the risk of fuel leakage when the engine stalls or when an airbag
inflates upon collision, the fuel pump shut off system stops the supply of fuel
to the engine.
Restarting the engine
Follow the procedure below to restart the engine after the system is activated.
1 Turn the engine switch to ACC or OFF.
2 Restart the engine.
NOTICE
■ Before starting the engine Inspect the ground under the vehicle.
If you find that fuel has leaked onto the ground, the fuel system has been
damaged and is in need of repair. Do not restart the engine.
If you notice any of the following symptoms, your vehicle probably needs adjustment
or repair. Contact your Toyota dealer as soon as possible.

Fluid leaks under the vehicle...
Calmly perform the following actions if any of the warning lights comes on or
flashes. If a light comes on or flashes, but then goes off, this does not necessarily
indicate a malfunction in the system...

■ Checking fluid level
The brake fluid level should be between the “MAX” and “MIN” lines on the tank.
■ Adding fluid
1 Slide and lift up the rubber strip to partly remove it as shown.
2 Disconnect the claws and remove the service cover.
3 Remove the reservoir cap...
■ Smart key system (if equipped)
Carry the electronic key to enable this function.
1 Grip the driver’s door handle to unlock the door. Holding the driver’s door
handle for approximately 2 seconds unlocks all the doors. Grip the front passenger’s
door handle to unlock all the doors...
